We are very excited to be hosting Mini Champs tomorrow and know it will be a great time for the swimmers and families! Green Woods Club address is 9 Maple Lane Chadds Ford, PA 19317. We are located just South of the Rt.1 and Rt.52 South intersection, off of Rt.52.
Unfortunately, we cannot overlook the weather and it is looking a bit sketchy for tomorrow. We have decided that we will send out an email at 2pm tomorrow if we need to reschedule for Thursday 7/15. If at 2, the weather looks manageable, we will proceed with the Championships as scheduled and not send an email.
In addition, we would like to request that you share with all your families the following information…
The League has set the MINI warm- up times as follows:
4-4:15 GW / JY
4:15-4:30 Roslyn / Waterview
4:30-4:45 UMLY / Wedgewood
PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 3:45pm.
Although our parking lot is very small we have very capable people to help direct the cars to accommodate the maximum number of vehicles possible. Please follow their instructions upon entering Maple Lane. Do NOT park on Maple Lane, this will interfere with traffic flow and the residents who live there. Be prepared to drop off swimmers and gear if directed to do so before you actually park. Please come prepared to stay at the meet, cars will be parked-in for the duration. Wednesday nights often bring more vehicles as one parent often brings the swimmer(s) and another parent arrives after work… Please consider carpooling if possible. In addition, do NOT park on Rt. 52. We have fire/police direct traffic out of Maple Lane at the end of the meet—they will ticket/tow illegally parked vehicles! Do not fret about being parked in, everyone leaves quickly and the fire/police do an excellent job emptying the parking lot!

Dear Swim Team Parents and Swimmers:
The coaching staff now feels the need to explain the sequence of events to further clarify the structure of Saturday’s meet against UMLY. Both the Upper Main Line YMCA and Roslyn Coaching staffs spoke Friday evening after reviewing the weather forecast. It was determined by both coaching staffs and officials that the meet would be held, as several forecasts indicated the heaviest rain not to enter the local region until noon Saturday.
Once the weather deteriorated towards the end of warm-ups, it was decided by both coaching staffs that that meet structure would change, in an attempt to make the meet official, considering both teams had arrived. The intent all along was to have each swimmer participate in their events and the decision made between both coaching staff’s was to swim the heat one events first and then swim the rest of the heats following the conclusion of these heats. While this is not the typical format, both teams agreed to swim since both were already present. Not trying to complete the meet at this juncture seemed impractical considering the remaining schedule.
Furthermore, once the meet was stopped because of lightning a brief discussion occurred about continuing the meet on Monday (today), but after UMLY conceded the meet this discussion became a mute point.
Decisions to conduct meets are never made by one team or one person. As it turned out, the decision to swim the meet Saturday did not work out as we had hoped. Please know this decision was difficult for all involved. This is not the first time a swim meet had to be structured in this format, and in hopes to alleviate future circumstances such as this, Roslyn has voted for a league schedule next year that will be slightly longer to allow more flexibility within the schedule. In addition, those who volunteered to help operate the meet Saturday were negatively affected based on the horrible weather conditions. It often goes understated but we are extremely appreciative of the time all parents take out of their schedule to volunteer on behalf of the team and we can’t think of worse weather conditions than Saturday.
Once again, the support of all parents and swimmers is critical for the success of the entire swim club. The goal of the coaching staff will always be to make Roslyn an enjoyable learning environment which stresses team spirit and camaraderie. We are proud to say this team has 254 swimmers this season which is the most in the SCCSL and the most ever in team history. The coaching staff is looking forward to each swimmer having an opportunity to participate in a championship meet during the next two weeks which suits their ability level.
We hope this letter clarifies the predicament both teams dealt with on Saturday. If further clarification is needed please speak with Jeff.

Roslyn Coaching Staff
Attached is information that will allow a local business in your area to advertise in our 2nd Championship meet program held at Wedgewood Swim Club on July 23rd and 24th. All proceeds help in defraying the cost of running 2nd champs.
In an effort to get more advertising and to raise more money, we have lessen the cost of running an ad by $25.00. The SCCSL is requesting that each league member sell at least $250.00 of advertisement. Please send out this information to your swim team members. Deadline is Friday July 16th.
